Voltage, current, resistance and diode mode

Read and record basic measurements without mixing up units.

100% FreeQuiz: 3 questionsPractice required for self-completion

What to understand

Voltage (V) expresses potential difference; current (A) describes charge flow; resistance (Ω) describes opposition. Ohm’s law V = I × R describes a simple resistor under relevant assumptions.

Resistance, continuity and diode-mode readings can be affected by semiconductors and parallel paths. A beeping continuity tester is not by itself proof of a destructive short.

Document the instrument range, reference point and whether the board was powered. A meaningful reading always has a measurement context.

Safe practical workflow

  1. Measure the resistance of a known resistor, with no circuit power.
  2. Connect a resistor dummy load to a current-limited source and record V and I; compare with expected V/R.
  3. Measure both sides of a resistor or shunt and identify the reference ground.
  4. Write a three-column table: expected, observed and interpretation/uncertainty.

हिंदी में मुख्य बात

वोल्टेज (V), करंट (A) और resistance (Ω) अलग readings हैं। हमेशा units, reference ground और power-on/power-off स्थिति लिखें।

Your practical assignment

Write down at least two resistor or dummy-load measurements with units, polarity and range.

Use the AIFlasher bench worksheet for measured values, observations, unknowns and next tests. A simulated case is acceptable if you do not have the instrument yet.
